We may not be certain of what our futures hold, but we can be certain that adversity and change will occur in our lives. In our culture, we are often taught to ignore life’s difficulties and continue performing well at all costs. Even if we feel affected, we push to just keep moving forward…to the next week…or the next deadline…or the next relationship.
This way of thinking may work well in the short-term. However, I believe that we cannot live full and authentic lives without pausing to integrate the changes we have experienced into the rest of our stories. It is in the honoring of these stories that one finds true freedom and can finally heal.
